Using the Character Sheet

This article gives an overview of using the character canvass while playing D&D.

The character canvass works like a giant, scrolling slice of newspaper, which means that the character sheet works basically the same on a desktop, phone or tablet. Most of the mutual deportment can be achieved directly from the character sail with less mutual actions displaying popup dialogs.

Top

The top of the character sail contains the main character attributes, statistics, and proficiencies.

Acme of Grapheme Sheet

The navigation bar stays at the top of the character sheet to allow you to quickly scroll to different parts of the character sheet.  Click on any of the labels to go to that section.  Note: the SPELLS label only shows if there are any spells on the character sheet.Right below the character name are the race, background, character level, classes and experience points for the character.  All of these are clickable.  Clicking on the race or background will show the details and any options that were selected.  You can change any of these options or even change your choice.  Clicking on the class will show the details of your class and if you have selected a subclass will merge the subclass features as well.  The experience points shows your current experience points as well as the number of experience points for the next level.Clicking on Level will display the class levels for the character.

Right below the grapheme name are the race, groundwork, graphic symbol level, classes and feel points for the grapheme. All of these are clickable. Class Levels

Shows options by levels. Click add level to accelerate the grapheme level in the current form or option some other class to multiclass your character.

  • Ac: Armor Class of graphic symbol

  • Initiative: Shows current initiative. Roll initiative by clicking the D20 or gear up the value by clicking on the number/"—".

  • Hit Dice: shows current hit dice. You lot tin can manually change this past clicking on the value. Note: to use hit dice during a curt residuum use the rest button.

  • Hit Points: shows the current hit points and max hit points for a character. Click the value to change the current hit points.

  • Temp HP: shows temporary hit points. Click to change the current value. Note: temp hitting points will automatically exist used first when removing hitting points.

  • Rest: button to permit y'all to perform a long or short balance for the character. Brusque rest will allow y'all to use Hitting Die to recover hit points.

Key character abilities available for quick reference.  Hint: click size to change the size of a character.  Useful for enlarge or reduce spell effects.  This will adjust size of your token.

  • Ability Scores: character ability scores forth with their bonuses. To alter grapheme power scores click the power score names. Clicking the numbers will roll an ability score bank check.

  • Savings Throws: graphic symbol savings throw bonuses, including any adjustments or proficiency bonuses (bolded if good). Click the value to gyre a savings throw check.

  • Skills: shows all of the available skills with their bonuses and what power score they are based upon (bolded if proficient). Click the value to curl a skill check.

  • Tools: shows tools that the character is adept, including artisan tools, instruments and gaming sets. Click to brand a check. You tin can choose which ability to brand the tool check.

Expiry Saves

If your character is reduced to zero hit points then a death saves tracker will display. Click the d20 dice to roll a decease relieve or click the circles to add/remove a save or fail. After three saves the grapheme will be marked stable or afterward 3 fails marked dead. The decease saves box will disappear afterward hit points raise above null.

Rest

The rest tool allows you to perform a long/brusk residue for a character. Both residuum dialogs display any features that will exist recovered. Click the feature to see the details.

Weapons

The weapons section includes weapons, armor and other items that have deportment or that demand attunement.

Weapons, Armor & Tools Tabular array

  • Equip: Weapons, armor and many items must exist equiped to use their abilities. Yous tin can just take one piece of armor at a fourth dimension. Proficiencies shows armor and weapons graphic symbol proficiencies. The +/- indicated next to the proficiency text can be used to show or hide these proficiencies. Weapons or armor will be labeled if the grapheme is not skilful with them.

Item attunement will only display if there items that crave attunement. The label will show how many items yous have attuned over the number that yous can attune. Click the circumvolve to modulate the items. Items that crave attunement won't show in the weapons table until they have been attuned.

Spells

The spells list shows all of the spells for a character across classes, race, items and other features that grant spells. For classes you lot can always change the set of spells by clicking on the SPELLS button located in the class features section. The dropdown in the upper correct allows for column filters on the spell listing including by level, ritual or concentration.

  • Cast: this cavalcade provides casting information. For spells that yous can cast at will at that place is no special cast button. The features section of the graphic symbol canvass is grouped by different attributes of a character that grant features, mainly classes, race, and background. These features typically require some boosted description and can't just automatically be applied to the graphic symbol or items. Die rolls bear witness with the d20 icon and the roll in assuming text. Click them to make the curlicue. Features that have a limited number of uses are displayed either with a serial of circles or with a count with +/- buttons. If the characteristic list is too long you can collapse the text using the +/- push to the right of the characteristic. Click the feature names to see the details and potentially make whatsoever rolls. For classes with spells the SPELLS button allows you to make changes to the selected spells.

Equipment

The equipment shows all of the coins and items for a character.

Shared Treasure: this button appears when a character is part of a campaign and allows a character to encounter and claim shared treasure. When a gamemaster grants treasure it is added to shared treasure.

Add: this push button allows a user to select items for a graphic symbol.

Coins: the coins department makes it easy to add together and remove standard coins for a character. Just click the coin to bring up the figurer to add together or remove coins.

Equipment Tabular array Columns

  • Equip: like the weapons tabular array this column controls which items are equiped for use.

  • Count: change the number of items that are counted. Notation: a count of null does not remove an item. This is handy for dealing with things similar ammunition that might exist used and the picked upwards later.

  • Proper noun: Name of the particular. Click to run across the item details. Annotation: items are stored equally copies in the equipment listing. Modifying them does non alter the original definition of the item.

  • Uses: shows the usage count for items that have limited usage.

Companions

Companions are creatures with monster stats that are attached to a graphic symbol. Companion monsters will even conform statistics based on the character level. Traits

The traits section of the graphic symbol sheet lets users build out the details of their character and make their graphic symbol unique and memorable.

The other traits blocks are all text fields that permit you to fill in whatever text that will help you to describe your character: Personality Traits, Ideals, Bonds, Flaws, Faction, Allies & Organization, Other Traits and Backstory. Where your grade, race or groundwork has trait options you can select and fill up those from those lists.

Log

The log keeps track of your playing sessions for your graphic symbol and allows you to record nodes that you tin can refer dorsum to. Sessions volition automatically be created each time you lot play and will also automatically tape changes to equipment, XP and levels. You can add together additional information or create a new session entry by clicking NEW SESSION. Clicking "more entries…" volition display the total list of sessions and you can click any session to see the full details.

Grapheme Menu

Clicking the grapheme name displays the character card that enables you to perform a diversity of actions on the character.

  • Rename: displays a dialog to change the character'due south proper noun.

  • Edit: places the graphic symbol sheet into edit mode. While in edit mode many of the attributes of a character can be changed contained of form/race/background. Note: while in edit mode you lot tin click the token to alter the token. Central attributes that can exist changed: speed, senses, languages, saving throw proficiencies, skill proficiencies, tool proficiencies, immunities, resistances, and vulnerabilities.

  • Hero Abilities: allow you to add features to a character, including feats or other custom types, for example a fighting style. Annotation: feats granted with an ability score increment are selected in the levels dialog.

  • Pick Die: change the dice shown for the character.

  • Re-create To: copies the character to another character or pregenerated graphic symbol.

  • Select Extensions: allows extensions to exist selected for the character. Note: this is but available for characters not in campaigns. For characters in campaigns the gamemaster selects the extensions.

Change Shape

Shape modify allows y'all to make a wild shape or general shape change to a character. This follows the standard rules for updating character size, attributes, striking points and attacks, along with updating the token for the character.
